Meh, I don’t really see the problem. People steal stuff all the time. It’s just a quick way out. Laughable that he couldn’t even do a find/replace to the posts but whatever. It’s a recruitment post, hardly an original document.

I don’t see anything wrong with what he did. Lots of people do that and it’s not something you want in your guild. However the guy obviously paid his dues, got his gear. Would have been better if he said he were off to do his own thing than lie about being in a car accident, but people lie.

Meh. Don’t really see what all the hubbub is about.

To be fair I think it isn’t something I would worry all that much about. Who cares what someone else does out in the world. People take video games, rules, and all of that way to seriously these days. It is about having fun. As long as he isn’t trying to wreck your scene then I would say everything is ok. It could have been a whole lot worse. He left without burning the house down after all. Or even trying.

Just let the drama go. The more you chase him around and ruffle feathers the more likely you will just end up getting mad and him getting some sort of sick enjoyment out of it. Don’t feed him your misery. Even if you prevent his guild from happening or something like that because at the end of the day that is what will likely happen anyway. You said it yourself he was a flake and flakes will flake out. No reason to waste the effort on him.

Maybe he felt like he wasn’t getting the respect he deserved? The fact that he wanted to become an officer but didn’t, and that since he couldn’t be an officer, he wanted to be a HEALER (this is the first and only guild I’ve been in, where the healers are in charge and hold positions of prestige- woo!) and then his flaking was noticed, his performance was in question…

Kind of makes sense, in an egotistical and aggravating sort of way. He wants to be looked up to, respected, revered, but didn’t feel like putting in the work to earn that respect or prove himself for a future officer position.

At least, that’s how I read the actions. I’m not a close personal friend, nor do I live inside his head.

Also, I can’t believe he stole my idea to server transfer and start a new guild completely ripping off all of Apoth’s policies- now how am I supposed to become the most infamous ex-member?! :( I guess I’ll have to do that illicit baby-bearing-and-marrying thing Matticus mentioned…

This is very interesting information. I’m a guild leader on the server he transferred to, and I can tell you just from what we’ve been told by him, there’s a lot more information… The biggest eye opener is that he advertises his guild as a “Transfer” guild, telling people that yes, he actually IS Apotheosis TRANSFERRING to Greymane, with claims of most of your guild Xferring to our server over the next couple of weeks, and raiding here. He is ALSO saying all of this under YOUR name and YOUR experience.
It smelled of BS the second we did any research into him, his guild, and you.
Also, he’s got quite the mouth on him, acting like they are established, and ready to make it to server first… Oh and they are a “No Drama” guild. “If any drama begins, both of the offending parties will be kicked, I don’t care of one of them is an officer. They will be removed”

TLDR: He came to our server, claiming to be a Xfer of you, riding your guild name.
Don’t worry. We’ll crush the little skid mark for ya.

You know, personally if it were me, I’d be flattered myself. But then again, I’m one of the few people out there with really lax copyright policies and stuff for my blog.

As for why this monkey left and decided to copy word for word about everything? Might be best to break it into two different questions first.

Why leave?

In a word, people leave because they want something that’s no longer attainable in the present. When I left my old guild in BC, it was because I wanted more then what they could offer. I wanted to do things my own way. I wanted to run my own ship. And I told them that straight up after we took down KJ and there were no hard feelers.

Why copy everything?

Laziness. That’s all it is. Sure a person could theoretically take the few days/weeks to decide and write up every policy from recruiting, to officers, to banking, management and so forth.

Or, take the easy way out and just copy stuff from an organization that actually works, is proven, and has demonstrated solid results. If the formula works, keep brewing.

But otherwise, another day.

Though with the amount of forum explosioning that went off, I was expecting like a category 6 level of drama (Married guildie decides to run off with another guildie but is actually carrying the child of a DIFFERENT guildie or something).

But seriously apotheosis! I expected better! This 100 calorie popcorn bag isn’t going to finish itself you know!

I continue to be astounded by the conduct of this member, and of course, always a friend and admirer of Apotheosis. Someone pulling a stunt like this could only ever hope to be a pale shadow of what you guys have built. I hope that you find the applications you need! This is so pathetic as to be laughable, honestly. I don’t even understand the motivation but it sounds like sour grapes after an obviously unsuitable person wasn’t able to grasp for the power he desired.

He also makes a racist remark when he lied about being rear-ended. He sure fits the stereotype of a jerkface, if you know what I mean! ;)
